Supervision of our work as therapists is a really important adjunct and support to the work. Finding a good fit with a supervisor, is not unlike finding a therapist that is helpful, and the supervisory relationship in a similar vein often needs to grow through gaining trust and confidence as it is often a space where we can also talk about instances where we are more challenged. Supervision can be a space to consult on cases, reflect on areas of practice, as well as other aspects that can come up in therapeutic work. My own experience of investing in regular supervision in the foundational years of growing as a therapist has been invaluable and I am passionate about supporting and mentoring therapists newer to the work, or wanting to grow in specific areas.
In my therapeutic work, I often focus on areas such as accepting and integrating difficult emotions, experiences and different parts of self, listening for and hearing client needs from therapy, and working collaboratively and creatively within the therapeutic alliance, so can also help clinicians reflect on these kinds of areas who might have been exposed to more directive/strategy-based approaches.
I am also currently taking expressions of interest for a peer supervision group for therapists working in private practice as well as a group for early-career therapists in their first years of practice. You can contact me via the below details for more information.
