About Laura

I’m a psychologist and supervisor working in Northcote and Fitzroy. I have been practicing for 10 years and hold an endorsement in clinical psychology. Prior to private practice I had a background in community health working with people across the life-span, specific work with survivors of child sexual abuse and clients from the LGBTQIA+ community. I provide both more on-going therapy, as well as more focused support around a particular issue or difficult period and see adults, as well as some adolescents and children (6+) in my practice. For clients who wish to work in their mother tongue, I also provide appointments in German and Finnish.

In addition to therapeutic work, I also offer supervision for both emerging and established therapists.

Areas of work and approach:

I specialise in the treatment of eating disorders and other food and body-related issues, and also see many people for work on trauma, anxiety, depression, existential/life-related issues, attachment or family issues. I also often work with clients from the LGBTQIA+ community (including children/adolescents exploring gender identity), and women with female-related health concerns (e.g. PMDD/POTS).

My therapeutic orientation is founded on humanistic/psychodynamic principles with a focus on good listening. I also work a lot with Schema Therapy, Emotion-focused therapy, and central nervous system regulation: cultivating presence, mindfulness and compassion. I have experience supporting clients from many different cultural backgrounds, work a lot with those from the LGBTQIA+ community, and practice from a place of respect and honouring diversity and awareness of the many structural and social influences and determinants of mental health and well-being.
